Guam's Annual Hagat Mango Festival

Guam's Annual Hagat Mango Festival

Mark your calendars for Guam’s Annual Hagat Mango Festival! You can catch the festival every year during summer between May to July. Located at the heart of the Agat Mayor’s Office, the annual three-day event is held in the southern seaside village of Agat (Hagat).

Dedicated to the juicy, red-gold fruit, this popular festival attracts both residents and visitors with vendor booths, concessions, mango displays and contests, demonstrations, live music, dance performances, games, rides, fireworks, and so much more.

Plan Ahead Like a Pro

Because the Hagat Mango Festival only happens once a year, you can expect a lot of people. Parking is going to be a headache, but don’t let that stop you! Decide which of the three days you want to attend and plan ahead. On the day, try going early in the morning when the crowds are smaller, so you’re more likely to find a parking spot. Or if you are going with a bunch of friends, consider carpooling. Since you’ll be doing a lot of walking in the heat, wear shorts, a tank top, and some comfy "zoris” (flip flops). Bring essentials like sunblock, shades, an umbrella, and a bottle of water. Don’t forget to bring cash! Most vendors only accept cash with a few taking cards, PayPal, or Apple/Google Pay. If you forget to bring cash, there might be a mobile ATM available for your convenience.

Mango Madness: The Food Scene

You’ve been waiting all year for this, so let’s dive into the best part - the food! This festival is a mango lover’s paradise. You can find everything mango: cookies, ice cream, smoothies, drinks, pickled mango, and even dinanche. Depending on when you visit you might score some free freshly cut mango. Don’t miss the warm, freshly made mango donuts – they’re a must-try. If you’re still hungry, there's plenty of food vendors and concessions to satisfy your tummy.

Entertainment Galore

Bring your family and friends! This action-packed festival has something for everyone. Enjoy live music and dance performances from different local artists. Kiddies will enjoy games and rides, like a fun carabao ride or petting animals at the mobile petting zoo. Be sure to check mango display tables, featuring the biggest mango, most beautiful mango, and most unique mango that are submitted for the annual mango contest. The best part of the festival is that it is next to the beach. So before you leave, you can sit by the water and watch the fireworks as the sun goes down, all while munching on some mango donuts.

Festival Shopping

Get ready to shop! There are many local vendors who will be selling handmade goodies like clothing, jewelry, books, and even mango trees. Looking for a gift to bring back home? Mango cookies or dinanche, make the perfect gifts for family or friends. Support local businesses and take home Hagat Mango Festival merchandise like shirts, mugs, cups, and key chains. Don’t forget to join the Hagat Mango Festival raffle for a chance to win a cash prize.

Enjoy Island Culture

For almost 15 years, the annual Hagat Mango Festival has been a highlight for locals and visitors. Not only does this event feature Hagat’s southern hospitality, it’s a celebration of Guam’s culture and what it means to come together as a community to celebrate tradition. Whether you tried the local food, watched a Chamorro cultural dance performance, heard Chamorro music, or were introduced to locally made products, this festival is the perfect place for you to experience the island’s rich culture.
