Before you leave the island, make sure to treat yourself to some delicious treats at Gourmet Guam. Joe and Rena Diego’s passion for baking began at home during family functions. With much encouragement and support from family and friends, they seized an opportunity in 2015 to purchase Gourmet Guam from its previous owners, John and Joann Malaca. The Malaca’s had started the business in August 2011 as a wholesaler of Gourmet Candied Popcorn.
In 2016, Joe and Rena, along with their two daughters and Rena’s sister, Marcy Muna, expanded Gourmet Guam’s wholesale offerings from candied popcorn at DFS, JP Superstore, and Cost-U-Less to include their homestyle desserts at Linda’s Coffee Shop and Tu’Re. As their love for baking for the local community grew and so did the demand for their cakes, and consequently, the Gourmet Guam family expanded.
In February 2018, Gourmet Guam Dessert Shop opened its doors in Tamuning, CAM Properties, under Pieology. Their journey has been both a blessing, but a challenge evolving from a family passion into a thriving business with amazing employees and numerous loyal customers. The support received fro the community over the years have been instrumental in shaping the family business into what it is today.
Today, Gourmet Guam offers the largest variety of cakes, cookies, cream puffs, tarts, and more for all special celebrations. In 2023, they won the hearts of locals, being voted Best Bakery, Cakes, and Dessert Shop in Pika’s Best annual contest. Gourmet Guam is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Sundays from 8 am to 3 pm. They are closed on Saturdays.
All products offered at Gourmet Guam meet the Guam Product Seal requirement, with at least 50% of the product’s value added in Guam. In fact, their products are 100% added-value in Guam. All of their products are specially handmade locally.
