Made in Guam: 671 Kettle Korn

Every month, The Guam Guide shines a light on the island's creativity and craftsmanship in our "Made in Guam" feature. Discover unique finds, support local businesses, and take home a piece of Guam's spirit, all while supporting products that meet the high standards of the Guam Product Seal.

Need a little something sweet? The mouthwatering aroma of freshly popped kettle corn is calling your name! Inspired by his childhood memories of classic popcorn on Guam and his mainland adventures with freshly prepared kettle corn, Frank Mateo, a former tow truck company owner opened 671 Kettle Korn in January 2012. He created a sensation with his Sweet N Salty and Caramel kettle corn, prepared on-site at various night markets and village festivals. Using a specialized 160-quart steel kettle, he ensured perfect temperature control and flavor.

Sadly, Frank passed away in August 2015, but his legacy lives on. The business reopened in October 2015 under the loving care of his wife, Cathy Mateo. In December 2017, Cathy decided to sell the business and was bought by Ignacio (IKE) Evangelista.

Today, 671 Kettle Korn continues to pop up at night markets and popular three-day village festivals, delighting customers with new and exciting flavors, but you can stick to the classic Sweet N Salty or Caramel kettle corn available in small and large sizes. If you want to know more about their offerings or have any questions, you can reach the owner at (671) 689-3957.
