Made in Guam: Carabao Brewing

Every month, The Guam Guide shines a light on the island's creativity and craftsmanship in our "Made in Guam" feature. Discover unique finds, support local businesses, and take home a piece of Guam's spirit, all while supporting products that meet the high standards of the Guam Product Seal.

Whether you’re a resident or just passing through the island, grabbing a beer at Carabao Brewing is always a delightful experience. Founded in 2018 by the husband-and-wife duo, Ben and Anna Johnson, Carabao Brewing opened its doors after they fell in love with Guam. During a visit in 2017, they fell for the island’s charm and decided it was the perfect place to establish their brewery and call Guam their home. In July 2018, they acquired the Mermaid Tavern and Grill in downtown Hagåtña, and after a year of renovations, Carabao officially launched in July 2019. Operating on a 5-barrel brew system, Carabao owes its success to loyal patrons and dedicated employees. In June 2021, they secured a lease for a new production facility and taproom in Anigua.

At Carabao Brewing, they take pride in crafting a diverse range of beers to suit every palate. Their passion lies in producing classic West Coast IPAs using modern techniques, as well as faithfully recreating timeless beer styles. Beyond beer, they’re equally passionate about quality sandwiches, making all their meats in-house from scratch using the freshest ingredients. Their motto? Good beer, good food, and good friends. Join them and share in their Hafa Adai spirit!
