But when I was eight years old, the circus came to town—Mungi Town (the village of Mangilao), to be exact—and my grandmother gifted my younger brother and me an experience we would never forget.
It was everything. High-flying acrobats twisting through the air, jugglers defying gravity, daring balancing acts, and, of course, the clowns—hilarious, unpredictable, and larger than life. I was completely mesmerized, taking in every unexpected moment.
I thought I’d never feel that same sense of wonder again.

Twenty-two years later, that same rush of excitement surged through me—the kind that makes your heart race, your eyes widen, and your inner child come alive.
