Guam’s December may not include snowy weather and gloves, but our art community is serving up a feast for the eyes with four unique art exhibitions you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re an art lover, hunting for the perfect locally-inspired gift or just want check out something cool, these events have you covered.
Creative Hands at Isla Center for the Arts
When: Opening reception on Dec. 5, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Exhibit runs until Jan. 24, 2025)
Where: Isla Center for the Arts, #15 Dean's Circle, UOG Campus
Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m.-2p.m.
Step into the creative world of 17 talented local artists at the Isla Center for the Arts’ Creative Hands Exhibition. The exhibit features a fantastic mix of works in various mediums. The opening reception includes refreshments (yes, free!), and while admission is free, donations are always welcome.
Ric Castro’s Solo Exhibition: Surface Portals & Liquid Koi Dreams
When: Opening reception on Dec. 6, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Exhibit runs until Jan. 4, 2025)
Where: CAHA Gallery, 2nd floor of DNA Building, Hagatna
Ric Castro returns with his solo exhibition. Swing by opening night to meet the artist and get an up-close look at his latest masterpieces.
Royal Collection’s Art Exhibition & Silent Auction
When: Opening reception on Dec. 7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Dusit Place
This one is a triple treat: art, fundraising and hands-on workshops. The Royal Collection is hosting a massive exhibition featuring over 40 pieces by 30+ artists. Proceeds will support the Save the Sihek project, which gives back to the environment.
Hightlights include:
- Silent auction: Bid on sihek-inspired masterpieces (while doing a little good for the environment).
- Workshops: Create your own sihek-inspired jewelry with LoveByLibby ($20), crochet basics with Nomadic Needles ($35), or weave a paluma bird with master weaver Thomas Torres (free!).
- Bonus feature: Artwork by students from Ordot-Chalan Pago Elementary School.
- Entertainment: Enjoy live music by DUB amd caricatures by UOG’s Creative Alliance of Tritons.

Phases of the Womb by Doratina Herrero
When: Meet the Artist on Dec. 7, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Exhibit runs until Jan. 14, 2025)
Where: Guam Museum
Doratina Herrero’s solo exhibit, Phases of the Womb showcases celestial and thought-provoking imagery. After soaking in all that art, head to the main floor for Christmas pop-ups featuring local vendors and grab some special holiday gifts!
