Outrigger Guam Resort Celebrates Chamorro Month

Outrigger Guam Resort celebrates Chamorro month with an art exhibit featuring contemporary Coconut Leaf Sculpture by the Barcinas sisters and daily cultural activities throughout the month of March.

On Friday, March 2, 2012 at 6:00 pm at the Outrigger Guam Resort lobby, a ribbon cutting ceremony will officially open the Art Exhibit “IRENSIA” (Para I Taotaota) showcasing Contemporary Coconut Leaf Sculpture by artists Lia, Rita, and Arisa Barcinas (official delegate members for the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts 2012 Solomon Islands).  The Barcinas sisters will be available every Saturday in March for a Weaving demonstration at the Outrigger Guam Resort lobby from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Outrigger Guam Resort will also host an hour long daily cultural activity in the hotel lobby at 3 p.m.  Activities include Chamorro cooking demonstrations every Monday and Thursday, Lei making demonstrations every Tuesday, Canoe craft making every Wednesday, and a Torch Lighting Ceremony on Fridays at 5:30 p.m.
